The framework / 02
The five parts
of IHCPP.
Identity, Heartmind, Collection, Power Form, and Personality: five connected ways to notice and make sense of lived experience.
A structure for paying attention.
IHCPP gives names to five recurring centers of inner life. These names help us distinguish what we are noticing and see how one part of experience relates to another. The parts are connected; the boundaries help us look more carefully.
In The Lantern, this terrain is explored as the Five Mountains. In Inner Order it informs conversation and practice. In Inner Media it helps organize reflection and mapping. None of those uses asks the map to replace the person in front of it.
Identity
The stories, roles, and understandings through which we recognize ourselves.
Heartmind
The felt and thinking life through which we interpret and meet experience.
Collection
What we gather, remember, and carry, and the relationships among those things.
Power Form
The ways capacity and intention take form in the world.
Personality
The recognizable patterns through which a person tends to meet life and others.
What the map is for
The purpose is orientation: to notice more, become more honest about what we see, and find useful ways forward. A living framework remains open to revision as experience reveals more of the landscape.
“The map must stay in conversation with the landscape.”
